Stephen “Steve” Wenninger, 80, of Hague, ND formerly of Moline, IL passed away March 14, 2024 at his daughter and son in law's home surrounded by family members.
Visitation will be 4-7pm Thursday March 21, 2024 at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Funeral services will be Friday, March 22, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Christ the King Church in Moline, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. In Lieu of Flowers memorials may be made to Prostate Cancer Research Institute.
Steve was born September 24, 1943 in Hague, North Dakota. He married Virgie Taylor February 10, 1968 in Coal Valley, IL. He worked as an operating engineer and was a member of Illinois Local 537 and California Local 12 and before that he worked for the Laborers Local Union 309, then after that he worked out of IBEW local 145. Steve enjoyed watching the news and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Virgie; children Stephen Thomas (Mimi) Wenninger, Jr., Darci (James) Newbold, and Shawn (Leasa) Wenninger; grandchildren Jessica (Shane), Madison, Justin, Dylan, and Joshua; great grandchildren Stephen, Taylor, Skyler, Emberly, and Oliver and siblings Jim Weninger, Richard Wenninger, Dennis (Linda) Wenninger, Floyd (Laurella) Weninger, Randy (Marlis) Wenninger, Rodney Weninger, Julie (Tom) Bergstand, Tina (Steve) Alexander, Betty (Don) Disterhoft, and Rose Mercer.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents Frank Wenninger and Elizabeth Nold and a sister Jane McCormick.
