Steven A. Sheldon, 66, of Hillsdale, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family May 18, 2018.
Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Schroder Mortuary, Silvis is assisting the family with services. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery with a graveside service, Thursday, May 24, at 11:30. Anyone wishing to attend should meet at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, by 11 a.m.
Steve was born Jan. 7, 1952, in Geneseo, the son of Ralph and Marjorie Hugart Sheldon. Steve married Debbie Carmichael Sept. 9, 1972, at Hillsdale Methodist Church, where they are current members. Steve served our country in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He retired from John Deere’s maintenance department after 35 years of service. He also served his community as a police officer in Geneseo and police chief in Hillsdale. He cherished his family, and was a loving husband, son, brother and father to his family. He enjoyed remodeling homes, fishing and visiting Myrtle Beach.
He is survived by his mother Marjorie Sheldon; wife, Debbie Sheldon; children, Threasa Sheldon (Ron Whittington) and Troy (Alicia) Sheldon; grandchildren, Dallas, Brandon, Dreyven, and Lillian; siblings, Bill (Patricia) Sheldon and Dick (Debbie) Sheldon.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Sheldon; mother and father-in-law, Bill and Marina Carmichael; grandparents, Charles and Gladys Hugart; special aunt, Shirley; and many aunts and uncles.
