Thomas Hawkins

Thomas H. Hawkins, 63, of Colona, passed away May 27, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Schroder Mortuary, Colona. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family. Thomas was born June 28, 1952, in Moline, the son of Howard "Lucky" and Beverly Ostrowski Hawkins. He served and retired from the U.S. Army, where he was a major in the Chemical Brigade. Tom retired from Case IH as a machinist after 31 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and watching the Illini and the Bears play with his friends. He also loved his dog, Sam. Survivors include his mother Beverly Hawkins; wife, Kelly; children, Chris Hawkins and Rachel Hawkins, both of Colona; grandchildren, Emily Hawkins, Isabelle Hawkins, Nathaniel Sharpe, Jordin Manning, Paige Hawkins, Karsin Manning and Amara Bryant; brother, Robert (Jeanette) Hawkins, Rapids City; and a sister, Mary (Gary) Jones, Coal Valley. Tom was preceded in death by his grandparents, Florence and Stanley Ostrowski, his father and a nephew, Matthew Hawkins.
