Tom Swanson

Eugene “Tom” Swanson, 70, of Colona, Illinois unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Genesis Illini, Silvis.

A private family visitation will be held at Schroder Mortuary, Colona.  Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, Silvis.  Memorials may be directed to the family.

Eugene Thomas was born July 16, 1952 in Moline, Illinois the son of Donald and Mary Fleming Swanson.  On November 10, 1973, he married Nena Carter in Green Rock.  Tom was an over the road truck driver, last driving for Foodliner before retiring in 2015.  His greatest joy was time spent with family, especially his grandkids.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 50 years:  Nena Swanson; sons:  Brad Swanson and Mark Swanson; grandchildren:  Jacob Swanson, Morgan Swanson, Gunnar Swanson, and Kylar Swanson; brothers:  Todd Swanson, Tim Swanson, and Fred Swanson; sister: Lisa Oliva; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers:  Kevin Swanson and Monte Swanson; and sisters:  Sheryl Rhodes, Laurie Swanson, and Missy Talbot.
