Velma M. Smallwood, 91, of Colona passed away March 18, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center in Moline.
Funeral services will be 11am Saturday with visitation 1 hour prior to service time at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Burial will follow at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to one's choice.
Velma was born Jan. 29, 1927 in Chillicothe, MO the daughter of Frank and Florence Hashman McIntosh. She married Don C. Smallwood Oct. 14, 1955 in East Moline. He passed away Feb. 7, 2013. Velma was owner operator of Smallwood Bus Service and drove the school bus for Briar Bluff School. She later worked as an auditor for The Bank of Silvis retiring in 1980. Velma enjoyed reading, square dancing, fishing, camping, playing cards, flowers and painting.
Survivors include her children Wayne Barber of Colona, Dennis (Vangy) Barber of Niland, CA, Paul (Diane) Barber of Storm Lake, IA, Linda (Allan) Smith of Davenport and Jeff Smallwood of Carbon Cliff; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and brothers Ardy and Herb McIntosh.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 3 brothers.
