Wanda M. Sweat

Wanda M. Sweat, 95, of Moline passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at Allure of the Quad Cities in Moline. 

Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis with visitation 1 hour prior to service time. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church. 

Wanda was born July 26, 1929 in Washington, IA the daughter of Fred and Sarah Waggoner Jones. She married Burrell Sheets and later married Fred Helling. Wanda married Charles Sweat April 3, 1971 in Moline. He passed away November 27, 1989. Wanda retired from John Deere Harvester and was a member of UAW Local 865 where she was very involved with the local and regional Women’s Committee. She was also a member of Rock Island County Democratic Women and served on the Rock Island County Board for 30 years. She volunteered at Project Assist and loved spending time with her family. 

Survivors include her children William (Lori) Sheets of Kansas City, MO, Donald (Emie) Sheets of Portland, OR, Debra (Dan) Carpenter of Aledo, IL, F. Dwayne (Diana) Helling of Colona, IL, Glen R. Helling of San Diego, CA; stepchildren Ronald D. Sweat of Hampton, IL, Bonnie J. Potter of Moline, IL, Susan M. Mesa of Sherrard, IL, Peggy (Don) Karnes of Peoria, IL; 17 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. 

Wanda Was preceded in death by her parents, husband, stepson Steven, granddaughter Carey Sheets; 4 sisters, and 2 brothers.
