Waymon Sherrell

Waymon C. Sherrell, 71, of Colona, passed away June 17, 2017, at his home.
As he wished, Waymon's body will be cremated. A memorial visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Geneseo. Schroder Mortuary in Colona is assisting the family with arrangements. His cremains will be taken to Sparta, Tenn., for burial. Memorials may be made to the family.
Waymon was born Aug. 3, 1945, in Sparta, the son of Robert and Caralee Lawson Sherrell. He married Linda Churchill July 10, 1997, in East Moline. Waymon was a member of First Baptist Church in Geneseo and worked maintenance Black Hawk College. He enjoyed working outdoors and was a jokester and very friendly.
Survivors include his wife, Linda, Colona; sons, Bill, David, Kevin, Jason and Waymon Jr.; stepdaughters, Teresa Fox and Yvonne Coughran; grandson, Brandon; and granddaughter, Madison; sisters, Nancy and Linda; and brother, Ridley.
Waymon was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
