William C. Hedges

William C. Hedges, 99, of Colona passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at his home.

Graveside services will be 10:30am Monday, November 13, 2023 at Dayton Corners Cemetery. Schroder Mortuary in Colona is assisting the family with arrangements.

William was born December 5, 1923 in Iowa City, IA the son of Harvey and Zaye Ficklin Hedges. He married Beatrice Williams October 16, 1948 in Rock Island, IL. She passed away in 2000. William worked as a poultry factory in Iowa City before becoming a semi driver. He retired from the Teamsters after 37 years. He was a lifetime member of Moose Lodge 190and was also a member of Friends Circle Club, East End Club, and the Silvis Eagles Club. William enjoyed having his car and his jeep in the parade every year and was proud of his garden, which never had a weed in it. He mostly loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his daughters Becky (Dave) Ziegler of East Moline and Belinda (Art) Olsen of Carbon Cliff; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

William was preceded in death by his parents, a son Bill, and 10 siblings.
