Yerushah Y. Young

Yerushah Yakira Young, 32, of Rock Island passed away Monday, February 22, 2026 at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be 12:00pm Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Second Baptist Church in Rock Island with visitation from 10:00am until service time. Memorials may be made to the family.

Yerushah was born November 9, 1993 in Moline, IL the daughter of Baruch “Ben” (Gad) Young Sr. and Lori Angel-Young. She worked as a CNA in the Quad Cities for over 10 years. Yerushah enjoyed playing basketball and running track for the Striders. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and enjoyed Sunday School and sang in the choir. She also enjoyed following all her children’s sporting events. Yerushah was very independent, outgoing and always spoke her mind. She loved to shop, travel, and was always glamorous. She especially loved spending time with her family, close cousins, and friends.

Survivors include her mother Lori Angel -Young; children Janiyah and Ja’Davion McKinney, Serenity Houston, Jatavius Davis Jr., and Jakius Phillips; grandfather Gad Isreal; siblings Baruch “Ben” (Tremese) Young Jr., TaShayla (E’Lon) Moore, Samantha (Salvidor) Hernandez, Tiffany Sherwood, Azariah Young, Barack Young, Kaelah Young, and Amirah Young; the love of her life Wesley “Jay” Phillips, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Yerushah was preceded in death by her unborn baby Jakira Phillips, daughter Sincere Houston, her father, and grandparents John (Ola) Angel and Barbara (Whitney) Young.
