Obituary

Mary Marie Zahnley, 99, of Silvis passed away May 30, 2022 at Hope Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, East Moline.

Funeral services will be 11am Monday, June 6th at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis with visitation 1 hour prior to service time. Burial will be private in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Moline where she was a member, American Heart Association, or American Cancer Society.

Mary Marie Garton was born October 2, 1922 in Weldon, IA a twin to Lyle Lee Garton who preceded her in death October 13, 1988. They were raised in Des Moines, IA by their parents Matson L. and Mabel S. (Stover) Garton. She married Lawrence W. Zahnley of Correctionville, IA on May 24, 1942 in San Diego, CA while he served in the Navy. Lawrence died April 7, 1989. Mary was employed locally at Eagle Signal for 9 years and Don E. Williams Co. (DEWCO) of Rock Island for 22 years retiring July 1, 1982. Mary was on the Deacon’s, Trustees, and Fellowship Committee’s and was also a part time Sunday school teacher at her church.

Survivors include nieces Roxanne Mikolon of Fairfax, CA and Dianna Brok of Hillsboro, OR; nephew Roger Sears of Galesburg, IL, Lester Zahnley and Wayne Zahnley of Correctionville, IA and special friend Willie Phillis.
