Richard Paxton

Richard E. “RP” Paxton, 74, of East Moline passed away April 11, 2021 at Strawberry Point Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point, IA.

A celebration of life will be held on May 1st from 1-5 pm at Leisure Time in East Moline, which would have been his 75th birthday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors or Australian Cattle Dog Rescue of Illinois.

Rich was born May 1, 1946 in Fairfield, IA the son of James O. and Dorothy L. Sloan Paxton. He married Sherry Warren October 30, 1970 in East Moline. Rich served in the Army during Vietnam and retired from John Deere after 30 years as a press operator. He was the co-founder of Centennial Rods and Street Machines. He was a master at restoration and custom work and could fabricate anything. He enjoyed car shows and loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry; son Shawn (Corie) Paxton of East Moline; daughter Becki (Wade) Pilon of East Moline; grandchildren Darcie Pilon, Dawson Pilon, Kaylee Paxton, and Kelsey Paxton and many special friends.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Gary.
